Memorial Day Weekend and Little Character Contest

This weekend didn't turn out quite like we had hoped.  We were all set to take Logan to the pool for the first time, do some yard work, and enjoy the summer weather.  It ended up we didn't do any of those things for two reasons- 1) It was almost 100 degrees outside and 2) our little guy had a 101 degree temp:(

It was the first time he has been sick and I think I gained a couple new gray hairs because of it.  Honestly, I won't go into it as I want to spare you the yuckie sickie details, but we did find ourselves in the ER on Sun to figure out what he had.  Thankfully it was a virus that just had to run its course, but I am glad we went just to know how we could make him more comfortable as he was screaming in pain at times.  And we are so grateful that he is feeling so much better and is more like himself today.

I just wanted my sweet boy to get his happy smile back!

This picture takes me to the Little Character Photo Contest that Disney baby is holding right now.  I entered this picture of Logan in the contest.  A couple of the prizes are selected by the staff but there is also a prize for the "Fan Favorite".  That is where everyone can vote for their favorite.  You can vote for more than one photo so if you know someone else in the contest you can still vote for them too.  Also you can vote for the same photo once a day until the contest closes on June 18th.  So please vote once a day if you can!  We would really appreciate all the votes we can get for our "Little Character"!

Mega Swagbucks Day!

Just a reminder friends that Fridays are always Mega Swagbucks day!  What does that mean?  Well in doing your searches you can earn higher Swagbuck amounts.  For instance this morning as I typed in Facebook in the search box 17 Swagbucks came up!  The norm on other days is about 7-11.  And don't forget you can earn multiple times in a day so always go to your Swagbucks page to search!

On top of that there are collector's bills right now that can earn you some bonus Swagbucks.  What are  collector's bills?  Right now you are looking to collect all five carnival bills, the theme for this weekend.  If you collect all five by May 31 you earn some extra Swagbucks.  How do you collect them?  Just by doing your searches.  That's what I love about Swagbucks- again earning points that I can turn into gift cards just for doing what I already do on the computer.  So let's say you search and a Swagbuck amount shows up that you just earned.  Right next to that amount will be a special bill.  Have all five show up sometime before May 31 and they automatically add on the extra Swagbucks to your account.  If you want to see how many you have collected so far-It started on May 23- click on your name in the top right corner.  That gives you a drop down box of options- click on My Swagbucks.  That screen gives you three tabs-Summary, Ledger, Collector's Bills- Click on Collector's Bills.  There you will see either empty boxes of bills you still need to get or ones that you already have.

Just another fun way to earn some extra points.  I only have two more to get!  If you want to join Swagbucks just click here or on the Swagbucks banner on the right side of my blog.  Happy Searching:)

Last Post Placement Visit

We had our 3rd and final post placement visit from our social worker today.  That means we are just one more step away from finalizing the adoption!  We had a great social worker who really made someone having to come into our home to check in on us a lot more comfortable than it sounds.  We are so thankful for all of her help but we are also glad she doesn't have to make any more visits:)

Sharing Our Adoption Story

Our adoption agency contacted us asking if we would like to share our adoption story.  They use it to have in their testimonial section on their website which gives prospective adoptive parents a chance to read stories of those that have been through the process.  Then each Tuesday they feature one of those stories on their blog in a segment they call Testimonial Tuesday.  Bill, Logan, and I are the featured story today!  We hope that our story will inspire others just as others have inspired us along the way.  If you get a chance check out Testimonial Tuesday! or if you have trouble clicking the link visit blog.americanadoptions.com

Mother's Day Recap

Well I was definitely spoiled on my first Mother's Day.  My hubby and little guy really made the day extra special for me.  I was told last night not to get up at all because Bill was going to take care of Logan if he woke up.  Well Logan must have thought this was a perfect time to test Daddy out because the last few nights he didn't get up at all and then last night he got up twice and still woke up at 6:30am.  But not a peep from my husband and he handled it well because he wanted Mommy to be able to get a little extra sleep.  And even though I woke up every time Logan did and I listened ready to help if needed, it was still nice to be able to stay in bed a little longer and rest.

I awoke later to breakfast being brought to me in bed by my two favorite guys- oh sorry four if you count the dogs that had to be a part of it too.  Pancakes, bacon, fresh strawberries, coffee and a rose- Yum!

And then I received the most thoughtful gift, a gift basket full of my favorite things that all had to do with relaxing- Chocolate covered strawberries, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, Bath Salts, Bottle of Reisling, Peach Rings, Scrapbooking magazine, and an amazon gift card to get books for my kindle. Do my guys know me or what?

We had a delicious dinner with my Mother-in-law.

But of course the best part of the day was looking in to the face of this little man

and being so proud and thankful to be his mommy.

And my heart just melted when I saw Logan's little hand print in my card.
I will always remember my first Mother's Day.

My prayers today are with my beautiful mother, all the wonderful women in my life from family to friends, for Logan's birth mother and those for whom mother's day is difficult for any reason.

Picnic Playdate and The Polka Dot Posie

What a lovely week it has been here!  The 75 degree sunny weather had us out and about.  We spent an afternoon with my friend Cayte and her daughter Lucy (aka- Logan's girlfriend) in Forest Park for a picnic.

The fresh air sure tuckered these two out!

It has been a while since I have posted and in that time my cousin and aunt launched their new business, The Polka Dot Posie!  I am excited for them because they have been talking about it for a long time and because they are two very creative and talented women who are are really making their dream come true.  They offer a variety of accessories from totes and custom handbags, to jewelry and hair clips.  Their personalized hooded bath towels and t-shirts are great for little ones and their unique line of camera bags and strap covers are so cute.  Along with that they also offer printable invitations, cupcake toppers and favor tags to help you spice up any party.
